| How It Works |
Stages
There are four stages to writing each narrative biography, summarized below. This effort will require a commitment on the part of the subject. Many hours will need to be devoted to completing the extensive background questionnaire as well as being prepared for each interview with the assigned biographer:
- Questionnaire: My Biographer will send the subject a detailed background questionnaire, to be filled out as soon as is convenient. The subject sends the completed questionnaire back to My Biographer (along with any photographs to be included in the biography). Included should be a list of available dates and/or times for the upcoming interview.
- Interview: Each subject will be interviewed (usually by phone) for about ten hours. This will be spread over as long an interval as the subject finds comfortable, and usually takes two or three weeks (less if the interview is conducted face-to-face (see below). The interview will always be taped, so no detail is overlooked.
- Drafts: My Biographer will write the first drafts of the narrative, and send the drafts back to the subject for approval (generally in stages, by section). Once final approval is given, the biography is typeset and a final copy is printed.
- Production: The subject will receive one copy of the book, spiral bound, and a CD containing an electronic copy. Optionally, the subject may have additional copies printed (at cost) with the option of having the book produced in hard cover. Requests for any further copies can be made through My Biographer, at any time. MyBiographer does not do the printing and binding in-house, but will coordinate these arrangements on request (billed at cost, plus shipping/handling).
